Acne Program - Step 4: Adding Essential Fatty Acids To Your Diet

Getting sufficient essential fatty acids is importance in clearing acne. It's these fatty acids that help control the production of androgens - the hormones that surge during the teen-age times, which causes excess sebum oil to clog your hair follicle and contribute to creating your acne.

The three fatty acids you need daily are omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9. You need more omega 6, olive oil, than omega 3.

When you are deficient in the essential fatty acids, you will have,

A weaken immune system
Inflammatory disorders
Poor skin
Skin eruptions that won't heal
Increase sebum production causing acne
Sebaceous glands size increase

Eating essential oils is necessary to provide the right oils that are used in the sebaceous glands. These oils can come from straight vegetable oils or from oils in specific foods such as nuts and seeds.

Use flax seed oil (omega-3 oil) and olive oil (omega-6 oil) in your salad. These are the best oils to eat and are called polyunsaturated fatty acids. The other oil that is even better for you is called monounsaturated fatty acid, omega-9. This oil is found in avocados.

Most diets people have contain an excess of omega-6 oils, so mostly likely you need to concentrate on getting more omega-3 oils into your diet.

You can get omega-3 oil from,

avocados
sesame seeds
pumpkin seeds
walnuts
dark leafy green vegetables (spinach, mustard greens, kale)
wheat germ oil
salmon
sardines
albacore tuna

Or, you can take one to 4 tablespoon of flax seed oil, omega-3 oil, each day. This will give you the amount of omega-3 oil that your body needs to reduce or eliminate acne blemishes. You can add this oil to your morning cereal, soups, smoothies, salads and other liquid foods. Each tablespoon of flax seed oil contains about 100 calories.

You can get omega-6 oil from,

Flaxseed oil
Flaxseeds
grape seed oil
pistachio nuts
olives
olive oil
sunflower seeds
evening primrose oil
pumpkin seeds

Taking 2-3 tablespoons of omega-6 oil a day will give you the amount of this oil that you body needs. You can add olive oil and other oils into your salad with the flax seed oil.

You can get omega-9 oil from,

Olive oil
Avocados
Cashews
Almonds
Olives
sesame oil
pecans
pistachio nuts

Taking around 1 tablespoon of olive oil per day will give you the omega-9 oil that your body needs.

Fish Oils

In addition to supplying your diet with omega-3 and omega-6 oils, you need to supplement your diet with fish oils. Fish oil contains EPA and DHA fatty acids.

Normally, enzymes in your body break down omega-6 into EPA and DHA fatty acids.

Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)

These two fatty acids eventually change into prostaglandins.

What are prostaglandins?

Prostaglandins are chemical hormones that come from omega-3 and omega-6 oils and that help,

regulate every function in your cells and organs.

Postaglandins also keep androgen hormones in control so that excess sebum is not produce in the hair follicle, which results in acne.

However, eating plenty essential fatty acids may not insure that you produce enough EPA and DHA, which produce the essential prostaglandins.

It is critical for acne and more importantly for your health that you get enough EPA and DHA in your cells and organs so they can produce the required prostaglandins.

To increase the prostaglandins in your cell walls, it is necessary for you to take a fish supplement, which contains both the EPA and DHA.

Of course eating salmon, halibut, and mackerel twice a week will be a plus in providing your body with more EPA and DHA.

Include at least 20% of your diet calories as good fats - omega oils and fish oil. This is essential for controlling the excess activity of your hormones and reducing the inflammation of your acne.

Keep Your Pumper Pumping

Clots cause 80% of all Heart Attacks and 83% of Strokes. Heart Disease is on the rise in this country as well as in places where the diet has been westernized like Japan and the Mediterranean. More than anything else it is due to lack of proper diet and exercise.
Atherosclerosis is the hardening of the arteries and this is how it happens; flowing through your arteries you have plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets (needed for clotting) as well as some other essential cells for your health. Due to lack of a good diet you also have things like Bad cholesterol (LDL), sugars from uncontrolled diabetes, saturated fats as well as other bad things for your health; all these negative ingredients begin to collect, stick together and build up on the interior of the artery walls; this is called plaque. The outer layer of the plaque that faces into the artery gets hard hence hardening of the arteries, the substances on the inside stays soft. The outer hard layer of the plague will eventually crack and the soft interior will be exposed. At this point the platelets (for clotting) do exactly what they are designed for; come to the crack to protect it, thinking it's an injury to the arterial wall, and form a clot; this creates even more blockage in the already narrowed artery.
Several things can begin to happen at this point, you may have various forms of chest discomfort, numbness, burning or even a dull ache. You may develop poor leg circulation, abnormally cold hands and feet, shortness of breath, high blood pressure, fluttering of the heart (palpitations), nausea, weakness or dizziness and even impotence in men. Hardening of the arteries creates a blood flow restriction. When this becomes more serious the clots can completely stop the flow of oxygen rich blood resulting in Heart Attack, Stroke and Death. It is important to reduce the risk of clot formation, but what is even more essential is to stop the production of plaque build-up in your arteries. If you make a cake it takes various minor ingredients and one major ingredient; flour, without flour you do not have a cake. When plaque is created in your arteries, it also takes one major ingredient; Bad Cholesterol (LDL). If you can stop LDL, plaque would not be formed. This is how bad LDL is created; Free-radicals are molecules or atoms that are missing an electron, they attack all kinds of cells in the body trying to steal an electron from them, free-radicals are the cause of all major disease; in the case of heart disease, free-radicals attack normal LDL cholesterol causing deformity or mutation, this makes the LDL cholesterol sticky. Now all the negative ingredients come together and you have plaque stuck to the walls of your arteries.
Free-radicals can not be avoided; they are in air and water pollution, junk foods we eat, and in medications we take; in medications these free-radicals are called side effects. Side effects can lead to disaster inside your body and in some cases death.
The only thing that stops free-radicals are antioxidants; they are molecules that have a spare electron. The only place to find antioxidants is in natural sources. Dietary supplements are needed for optimum health and contain antioxidants, eating natural foods that are un-processed is critical. Processing our food destroys the antioxidants. Most plants have around 1,000 to 1,500 antioxidants each, which does not seem like a lot compared to the amount of free-radicals you are taking into your body every single day; about a billion. Vitamins and minerals also contain antioxidants.
With the discovery of a fruit from South East Asia called the Mangosteen, scientists have been in a buzz about the amount of antioxidants this fruit contains. The Mangosteen fruit has an amazing 25,000 antioxidants. This fruit has been studied in Universities and by scientists for the last 20 years; they have proved that this fruit has the most powerful and the largest number of antioxidants in nature to date. You can read all the studies by going to (pubmed) and typing in Mangosteen. The Mangosteen fruit has been providing thousands of people with medicinal benefits, due to super charged antioxidants called Xanthones. Two hundred Xanthones have been identified in nature, 41 are in the Mangosteen fruit alone and you can compare that to the Aloe Vera plant that contains only one Xanthone. One thing about Xanthones you need to know is that they must be consumed in their natural form. Xanthones can destroy more than one free-radical at a time, unlike normal antioxidants, due to carbon bonds that produce biological actions in the body. Xanthones are stable, super charged anti-oxidants.
You will not feel the blood clots that are forming in your arteries until it is too late and a heart attack or stoke brings you down. Take care of your pumper now so that you will keep pumping for years to come.

christies in amsterdam

There are so many good lots up for auction this summer at Christies in Amsterdam. There is a lot by Petrus Paulus Schiedges called Sailing on open water that is oil on panel. This is supposed to sell for more than two thousand euros.

There is another lot up for auction at Christies that is of a busy canal near a Dutch town. It was painted by Joseph Bles. Joseph Bles was Dutch and he signed his painting J Bles. This painting should go for about fifteen hundred euros.

Albertus Verhoesen was Dutch and he painted a lovely painting called Cattle in a Sunny Meadow. The painting was created in 1845. It is up for auction in Amsterdam at Christies this summer. This painting will sell for more than twelve hundred euros.

Louis Smets was a 19th century Belgian. His painting of a horse-drawn-sled on a frozen waterway is up for auction this summer at Christies in Amsterdam. It is possible that this painting could fetch six thousand euros.

There is a nice painting by German Johann Erdmann Gottlieb called The Runaway Carriage that is dated 1844. It is one of the lots up for sale at Christies in Amsterdam. This is a rather large painting at 59.5 x 89 cm. The auction house thinks that it could sell for as much as five thousand euros.

The most expensive painting up for auction at Christies in Amsterdam this summer is called Setting Out. Setting Out was painted in the nineteenth century by Abraham Hulk. The painting is oil on canvas and it is estimated to sell for up to twenty thousand euros.

All of the top five paintings at the summer auction at Christies in Amsterdam were painted by Dutch painters. I think that I like the Jan Cossaar painting depicting playing in the snow after school better than I like the painting entitled Bollenveld by Anton Dircks. They look like they will sell for similar prices.

The oil painting of a lake in a panoramic Alpine landscape by Swiss artist Jacob Joseph Zelger is very large and very beautiful. I liked the style that he used for his creation. Christies estimates that this painting will sell for five to seven thousand euros.

There were less than twenty lots that Christies estimates will auction for less than a thousand euros. I found one of the most inexpensive paintings listed in the catalogue to be that of a clown with two yellow balls. It really did not speak to me at all and Im not surprised that it will sell for one of the smallest amounts.

I actually liked the Dutch artist Simon Maris oil painting of pumpkins, grapes and elderberries. The painting is signed and may go for as little as seven hundred euros. Simon Maris lived from 1873-1935.

Another piece of art up for auction at the Christies in Amsterdam is a lithograph printed in colors from 1978. The artist is Bram van Velde and he signed his piece in pencil. Bidding for this piece may go as high as sixteen hundred euros. This artist was very poor as a child. He first entered into an apprenticeship as a painter in 1907 in The Hague.

Another painting that is going to be auctioned off at Christies in Amsterdam this summer is a flower still life with chrysanthemums. This oil painting was painted by Willem Elisa Roelofs. He was from The Hague and his painting should go for about seventeen hundred euros.
